Name: N.U.W.S.S Badge (Clover design: REPRODUCTION)
Item: 1 number (ONE badge supplied of)Women's Suffrage (Clover emblem) : High Quality Modern Reproduction Enamel badge (Hard enamel, no epoxy sealing).
Size: 25mm (1 inch) diameter: Circular shape.
Materials: Enamelled colours, in a hard enamel type finish. Brass back and gold-plated safety-pin with locking ring to rear for easy, safe and hardy affixing to garments etc. Comes individually contained within small poly-bag.
Condition: Mint condition.New, modern reproduction badge.
Description: This badge is an EXACT replica of an original of the period, pin backed badge.
As can be seen the badge features, very prominently, the words " Women's Suffrage" and is cast in green, white and a pearlised. transluscent deep ruby red.
The red colour used in production is EXACTLY as seen on the ORIGINAL. ( A lot of time is spent colour-matching, to the exact shade using Pantone colour swatches). It is NOT Purple, as is usually associated with the suffrage movement (in the UK). It is most certainly NOT violet!
Red, white, and green were the official colors of an organization called "The National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies," which made several badges and pinbacks. The NUWSS feared that the militancy of the WSPU (the Pankhurst group whose colors were the familiar purple, green and white) would hurt the cause.This pin, whose reproduction you now see above, was undoubtedly issued by them.
Please note that the badge itself is crystal clear and does NOT suffer from the pixelation/degradation that the photo's do.
